Grounds maintenance tenders in the UK: where to find them

Public sector grounds maintenance tenders are published free on Find a Tender (all new UK procurements since 24 February 2025, except below-threshold ones in Scotland) and on Contracts Finder (England, over £12,000 including VAT, or £30,000 outside central government), with Public Contracts Scotland, Sell2Wales and eSourcing NI or eTendersNI for the devolved nations. Search by keyword and by CPV codes such as 77310000 (planting and maintenance services of green areas), 77320000 (sports fields maintenance services) and 77340000 (tree pruning and hedge trimming), then filter by location.

Councils, academies and schools, parish and town councils, universities and NHS bodies all buy grass cutting, landscaping, sports pitch and tree work through published notices. Here is where those notices appear, how to search them by code and region, and how to see the next contracts coming up.

Step by step: the free official route

  1. Search Find a Tender for open grounds maintenance tenders

On Find a Tender, use the Opportunities search (upcoming pipelines and active tenders under the Procurement Act 2023) with keywords such as grounds maintenance, grass cutting or landscape maintenance. Each notice lists its CPV classifications, its contract locations and, where the buyer says so, whether it is particularly suitable for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

  2. Search by CPV code as well as by keyword

Buyers tag notices with CPV codes, and Find a Tender's search lets you filter by CPV code and contract location. Grounds maintenance notices commonly carry:

    CPV codeDescription
77310000Planting and maintenance services of green areas
    77320000Sports fields maintenance services
    77340000Tree pruning and hedge trimming

Keyword searches still matter, because some buyers file grounds work under a broader code.

  3. Filter by region: Yorkshire, the North West, the South West and the rest

Find a Tender notices list contract locations by UK region (for example UKE - Yorkshire and the Humber or UKK - South West (England)), so filter by location rather than relying on the buyer's address. On Contracts Finder, pick a region or a postcode radius from 5 to 50 miles.

  4. Add the devolved portals for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland

Lower-value contracts in the devolved nations are on Public Contracts Scotland, Sell2Wales, and eSourcing NI or eTendersNI for Northern Ireland. GOV.UK's Contracts Finder page links to each.

  5. Do not skip schools and parish councils

Smaller buyers use the same portals. An academy advertised a three-year grounds and football pitch contract on Find a Tender in 2026, and in 2025 a parish council published its contract award notice there for a four-year recreation ground maintenance contract worth about £31,000 excluding VAT. Search for the buyer's name, or for parish council plus grounds maintenance.

  6. Look ahead to contracts that are about to end

Most grounds maintenance contracts run for several years and are then re-tendered. Awarded notices show the contract dates and any extension options, and councils in England publish every contract over £5,000 with its start, end and review dates. Our guide how to find out when a council contract ends shows how.

What the free tools do, and what they leave to you

The official portals are free, and with an account you can save searches and get email notifications for new notices. What they do not do is bring the four UK portals together, filter out unrelated notices that share a broad code, or tell you which existing grounds contracts end in the next 6 to 12 months: that still means opening awarded notices one by one.

Where Contracts Radar saves time

Contracts Radar for grounds maintenance is a £19-a-month email alert (14-day free trial, and a free weekly top-3 digest) listing UK public-sector grounds maintenance tenders open now, buyers preparing to tender, and every grounds maintenance contract ending in the next 6 to 12 months (or any window up to 24 months ahead), with the buyer, the current contractor, the value and a link to the official notice. You can choose your regions.

Questions people ask

What is the CPV code for grounds maintenance?

Grounds maintenance notices commonly use 77310000 (planting and maintenance services of green areas), often with 77320000 (sports fields maintenance services) and 77340000 (tree pruning and hedge trimming). Search by keyword too, because some buyers use broader codes.

Where can I find grounds maintenance tenders near me?

On Contracts Finder you can filter by region or by a postcode radius of 5 to 50 miles, and on Find a Tender you can filter by contract location. For Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, also check Public Contracts Scotland, Sell2Wales and eSourcing NI or eTendersNI.

Do parish councils advertise grounds maintenance contracts?

Some do, on the same portals. For example, a parish council published a contract award notice for a four-year grounds maintenance contract on Find a Tender in 2025. Check the parish or town council's own website as well.

Do I have to pay to see grounds maintenance tenders?

No. Find a Tender, Contracts Finder and the devolved portals are free to search, and you can save searches and get email notifications with a free account.

How do I find out when a council grounds maintenance contract ends?

Read the contract dates on the awarded notice (Contracts Finder or Find a Tender) and check the council's contract register, which lists contracts over £5,000 with start, end and review dates.
